It's silly season again

There's a tradition at our house which for me marks the opening of the silly season (Karneval).

Each year at about this time I'll arrive home to find a gaggle of women (my partners work colleges) in various stages of readying themselves for an early "let your hair down" carnival party of some sort.

I don't mind the invasion, quite the opposite in fact. There's usually nibbles and a glass or two of bubbly spare. It's also not everyday you get to watch this "back stage" dressing up, preening, and carnival only tasks; like sewing pieces of cucumber on to spectacle frames.

Not sure what the theme was this year, if indeed there was one: but part of letting their hair down seemed to involve putting it up!
